JIVAKA - Buddhist company for the Sick
The name JIVAKA goes back to the Buddha’s time. Jivaka was the personal physician of King Bimbisara of Magadha, who was one of the main patrons of Buddha Shakyamuni. He was also entrusted with the care of the Buddha’s Sangha.
Sick Buddhists and anybody who is ill and interested in the teachings of the Buddha can receive spiritual attendance, if desired.
Members of the JIVAKA team make visits in stationary facilities or to people’s private homes. Working in our JIVAKA team are volunteer Buddhists of various traditions with a solid knowledge of the teachings of the Buddha and who have also been practicing regularly and for a long time. Where possible, they accompany the sick according to their respective tradition, in order to better support them in their practice. The service of the JIVAKA team is free of charge.
